UK-Hub Orders: Dispatched by Wednesday
over 1 year ago – Tue, Nov 08, 2022 at 02:45:26 AM

I poked GamesQuest on this, since I have paid them and such, and the dashboard was still showing no movement.

Turns out the dashboard lags the reality, and the books were all picked this morning, and should be despatched by Wednesday, after which the UK-Hub folks shall finally have books on the way.

Shipping Updates; Hey, my boxed sets!

UK/EU/RoW Shipping

The inventory has all arrived at GamesQuest, and the new sets of books are much better than the old. Still need Mixam-UK to improve packaging, but at least no one played volleyball with the books.

I paid the invoice, and discovered that on the average, it's between 3-4x less expensive to ship from Mixam to the EU/UK/RoW than it is to ship to freakin' Canada from my house. Of course, the bulk of those orders ARE to the UK/EU, which even these days show much lower rates than other routes. And of course I peeled off the AUS/NZ stuff for special handling, and those are the most expensive.

In any case, I've pinged them about "get this going, please" and hopefully we'll see the books checked into their inventory system ASAP, and then picked-and-packed and shipped in good order.

US Shipping

While there are probably stragglers, the majority of the US stuff should arrive by the end of this week. In fact, most should be by today. I've received some nice notes from backers, and for that, many thanks.

I'll be working on some more OSE things after I finish up my Nightmare Fuel campaign for the Dungeon Fantasy RPG. I have a few ideas where I can start, and while I'm distracted by running the new campaign on a new crowdfunding platform...I'm excited to get going on that.

Boxed Sets!

This isn't related to Gaming Ballistic, but I believe it of mutual interest: I have received an email saying my OSE Boxed Sets have shipped! So those of us waiting for that project's final form shouldn't have to wait too much longer.

...and "done."

Kinda-sorta done.

There are a few to-dos left to be done. But as you'll see, except in one case, it's minor stuff.

  • I have a floor full of packaged and paid boxes to put in the car and drop off first thing in the morning at USPS Burnsville (for whatever reason, Burnsville is better than Lakeville for this stuff). This is me driving up, pulling one of their cubic-meter-size bins out to the curb, loading up, and pushing it in en masse. It's pretty slick.
  • The UK-Hub books are awaiting arrival at, and shipment by, GamesQuest. But those books ought to arrive either tomorrow or Friday (I mean, England ain't that big) and I suspect that there will be a brief internal delay, and they'll go out next week. But everything needful has been done. The only thing left is probably to pay a thousand pounds or so for the fees, or whatever they charge me. Everything that could go tracked/DDP (Royal Mail, EU) went that way.
  • There are 11 AUS-NZ orders that will take a while. I'm going to box up the inventory tomorrow, and ship it to my collaborator's MyUS freight forwarder, where they'll  make their way to him. It should take a few weeks, and then they'll wait at his location to be reshipped. I'll need to package up customs and shipping labels, and this time I'll email them AND put them in the box (they got removed last time, much to my annoyance).

That's it. I have also, as I have been warning for a while now, reverted all incomplete surveys from physical to digital format and issued refunds for 90% of the difference (to account for KS fees taken). Those downloads are waiting in folks' Backerkit accounts as always. Those few pledges that failed on KS or were pre-orders with failed payments were just cancelled with no money having ever changed hands. One incomplete "pick one" digital survey was simply cancelled and refunded.

That brings the campaign to a Mostly Concluded status. I of course will continue to follow up to ensure that everyone's stuff arrives in good order. If there are issues, please contact me and I'll work with you to resolve them.

Some bits won't be truly settled for a few months - mostly the international stuff.

Inching towards completion
over 1 year ago – Wed, Oct 26, 2022 at 05:32:10 PM

Enough news came in this morning that it's worth a quick update.

Fulfillment Update

I'm down to 115 domestic packages remaining to ship; all of these are "just the four solos."

MixamUK has informed me the reprints of Dragon Hunt that were damaged are done; usually it takes 1-2 days to get to GamesQuest, then GQ can start moving things.

I do anticipate getting all of the Domestic US and Canadian packages done. That should leave only the AUS/NZ to box up and ship to my counterpart in Australia. Reminder that he won't be back to deal with these until mid-December.

Another Project

For those who also play other games, I've got another crowdfunding project with 11 days to go. It's funded, and it's eyeing a stretch goal for a hardcover omnibus to be included in certain physical pledges at no charge. It's not on Kickstarter - I'm trying out Backerkit Crowdfunding.

The project is called Nightmare Fuel, featuring three short bestiaries: Serpents of Legend, The Bugstiary, and Garden of Evil.

It's not OSE. It's Powered by GURPS, for their Dungeon Fantasy RPG product line, for which I'm the only licensed third-party publisher permitted to provide independent support. So depending on how varied your game tastes are, you might be interested, you might not.

The First Transport is Away! (Imperial troops have entered the base! Imperial KHHHZZHT)

The first boxes are picked and packed. I'm about to run them over to USPS and UPS.

They comprise: Retail orders and Funky stuff.

As noted, when you have 300 of something to do, you do one, figure out its specs, and then print out 299 additional labels. Then it's lather-rinse-repeat time.

For the a la carte shoppers, those are harder. I decided to do those first this time. I'm liking the result. Mostly, from here we should see much larger package groups, which speeds things up a lot.

So I should be able to nip the first set of orders over Real Soon Now. I'm using ShipStation, so tracking numbers and emails go out with each label printed.
